Neuroonkologická sekce České onkologické společnosti

Czech Society for Neuro-Oncology (CSNA) is a member of Czech Oncological Society. The main aim of CSNA is to contribute to the development and dissemination of the knowledge in the clinical and biological sciences focused on neuro-oncology, to enable translation of this knowledge into the clinical practice and current standards of care for patients with CNS tumors and to participate on the education of the all health care professionals and scientists involved in the neuro-oncology community.

Specific objectives include

  • preparation of national guidelines for the treatment of patients with CNS tumors,
  • establishment of the network of CSNA centers following CSNA guidelines in their clinical routine and research activities (biobanking, collection of clinical data) in neuro-oncology,
  • facilitating the interaction of health care professionals and scientists with interest in neuro-oncology,
  • supporting multidisciplinary cooperation of clinical and scientific teams involved in high-quality neuro-oncological research,
  • managing and coordinating clinical and translation multicenter studies in neuro-oncology within the CSNA network in Czech Republic and abroad.

Currently, CSNA network is composed of 8 centers (Prague – Na Homolce Hospital, Prague - The Military University Hospital, Brno – Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, Hradec Kralove – University Hospital, Olomouc – University Hospital, Ostrava – University Hospital, Plzen – University Hospital, Usti nad Labem – Masaryk Hospital) and 1 associated center (Ceske Budejovice – Hospital Ceske Budejovice). Within this network, approximately 600 patients are surgically treated for glioma per year.
